Have you ever read Earl Nightengale’s “Acres of Diamonds”? If you have not been exposed to this timeless story you must read it. The truth that Mr. Nightengale discusses in this story applies to each of us today, even in this cyber age.

Those of you who are familiar with the story are probably scratching your heads wondering how a story about mining diamonds in your own backyard rather than selling all you have a moving to a “more profitable” area to do your mining applies in an age where we can communicate around the globe in seconds.

I’m glad you asked!

We apply this today by stopping for a second and putting aside our attention deficit personalities to examine how we treat our internet business.

Are you always on the lookout for a newer, more profitable opportunity? You look at the business you are in and the results you have had and you quickly abandon your current business and sign up for the new shiny object that is absolutely better than what you’ve got now. I mean, shoot, I’ll be at the top of the leaderboard, only three people downline  from the “GURU” who created this masterpiece.  Let me sign up today and my future will be set forever!

This attitude is not limited to your primary internet business. Just think about it, if you lived in California or if you had a better looking wife/husband or if your spouse had better people skills and stopped alienating all you neighbors or if your neighbors had I.Q.s greater than 50 or if…you could list 100 different things that would guarantee your success if you could change them.  Somehow we never include the one thing which over which each one of us has complete control and which we can change to guarantee our success.

That one thing is your attitude.

Before I get carried away, back to Mr. Nightengale’s story, the answer to every dream is in your own backyard.  More specifically, the answer to your every dream is in your own head.  Success in any endeavor is 90% mental and only 10% technical.  Is copywriting important?  Of course.  Landing Page?  Yes.  Autoresponder?  Yes.  All the details of doing business are important once you believe that you will be successful.   None of the details of business are important if you don’t really believe that you will be successful.

So if you will permit me to make a suggestion.  Take a step back and examine your internet business; are you in a business about which you have passion or are you in an opportunity you hope somebody will sign up for so you can make a commission?  Do you have a business which brings value to your customers and team members or do you try to convince yourself that the opportunity might have value to somebody, somewhere if the stars are aligned correctly?  And you hope somebody signs up before the opportunity runs out of life!
